FIRING
The alchemical process of firing clay is nothing short of magical, transforming it from a pliable raw material into the enduring substance we know as ceramics. Ceramics, both robust and stone-like, have withstood the test of time. The secret lies in the dance between clay and fire.
Firing is the crucible that elevates clay and glazes to high temperatures. The ultimate goal is to bring these elements to a state of maturity, where they meld harmoniously. (Rest assured, your pottery won't literally melt; it's a molecular transformation.)
Bisque firing marks the first encounter with intense heat. It vitrifies the clay, preparing it for the application of glazes without sacrificing their integrity. The balance is delicate.
After the glazes have been applied and allowed to dry, our carefully crafted pieces journey into the kiln for the final glaze firing. Each item is meticulously arranged to ensure they don't make contact, preventing any unintended fusion during the process.
The kiln, our artistic forge, slowly ascends to the precise temperature required to bring the clay and glazes to their full potential. Afterward, it's a gradual descent into cooling. Only when the kiln is fully settled can we unveil the treasures within.
