Ceramics, an ancient and enduring craft, boasts artistic qualities that elevate it to the status of art, even in its earliest stages of development. In the rich tapestry of Bulgaria's history, the diverse tribes and peoples have bequeathed a cultural legacy reflected in various ceramic forms—traces of Thracians, Romans, Slavs, and Proto-Bulgarians. The influence of the Mediterranean, with its vibrant culture, has further enriched the evolution of Bulgarian crafts.

At DankoHandmade, we honor these traditions by infusing them with a modern sensibility. Each product line we offer possesses its distinctive style and character, yet all are imbued with the comforting warmth of the Bulgarian land.

Throwing clay is a captivating process involving a swiftly rotating pottery wheel and skilled hands utilizing various tools to shape a lump of clay into a stunning ceramic piece. Starting with placing the clay at the wheel's center, an opening is delicately formed, gradually expanding into a cylinder. The sides are skillfully pulled up, leaving sufficient clay for the piece's base. After shaping the sides and mouth, the piece is carefully removed. Once it reaches a leather-hard stage, the potter trims excess clay, adds intricate details like handles or spouts, and refines the piece through carving or cutting. While an adept potter may make this seem effortless, it demands years of dedication and extensive practice to master the art of throwing and create balanced, beautiful pieces.

I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for up to four years.
