WEDGING
Wedging is the delicate alchemy of clay mixing, where skilled hands rotate and press a clay ball upon a table. The goal is to achieve a thorough homogenization of the clay while eliminating any lurking air bubbles. This step is pivotal, as air bubbles within the clay can lead to disastrous kiln explosions, destroying both the pot in question and any nearby vessels. Recognizing the presence of air in the clay is akin to identifying holes, reminiscent of Swiss cheese, when slicing through the material with a wire.
In this intricate dance between tradition and modernity, we strive to honor the legacy of the Balkan Peninsula, preserving it for generations to come.
