The drawing is painted by hand and will not be duplicated on another mug which makes this a unique artwork resembling a book illustration.
Stoneware is a nonporous, nontranslucent pottery, that is fired at a high temperature. It is hard enough to resist scratching but differs from porcelain because it is more opaque.
In DankoHandmade we fire stoneware pottery twice to produce a better-quality glaze finish. Bisque firing is around 900 °C, and glost firing (the firing used to form the glaze over the ware) - 1200 °C. Water absorption of stoneware products is less than 1 percent, which makes them safe to use in a dishwasher even with intensive programs.

GLAZING:
Following the bisque firing, the intricate process of glazing commences. Utilizing a blend of finely ground glass, clays, pigments, and water, the glaze is meticulously applied to the bisque-fired pottery. This application can take various forms: dipping, pouring, spraying, brushing, sponging, or a combination of techniques. Ensuring precision, the footring of each piece remains free of glaze, and the vessel is delicately positioned on a bisque-fired 'cookie' crafted from stoneware clay. With this meticulous preparation, the pottery is poised for the final glaze firing, completing the transformation into a work of art.
