Wedging: Sculpting Clay with Precision
Wedging is the meticulous craft of hand-mixing clay, a dance of rotating and pressing a clay ball upon the table. Its purpose is twofold: to achieve a thorough homogenization of the clay's composition and to eliminate all air bubbles. The latter, in particular, is of paramount importance, as the presence of air bubbles within the clay can lead to catastrophic kiln explosions.
Think of it as a careful symphony where air pockets become the adversaries, and clay, the canvas.
