The Balkan Peninsula stands as a crossroads of civilizations, shaped by the intricate interplay of Thracians, Greeks, Slavs, Turks, and Proto-Bulgarians. This rich tapestry weaves the foundation of what we recognize today as Bulgarian culture. Resonating through time, the people of these lands safeguard ancient traditions, singing songs, dancing, and weaving motifs, often unaware of the origins embedded in their actions. Subconsciously, we carry the echoes of bygone eras.
This cultural amalgamation finds expression in the creations of DankoHandmade—vivid hues inspired by Bulgarian national costumes, traditional forms, and intricate ornaments. Over the past two decades, our workshop has dedicated itself to perpetuating this legacy through a contemporary lens.

The glaze firing marks the second phase in the clay's journey. After the application and drying of glazes on bisqueware, the pottery is delicately arranged in the kiln. Firing temperatures, ranging between 2020°F (1100°C) and 2350°F (1280°C), are meticulously controlled. Pots mustn't touch, as this could lead to the melting of glazes, fusing the pots together.
The kiln ascends gradually to the designated temperature, allowing the clay and glazes to mature, before a slow descent. The final unveiling occurs only after the kiln has cooled. This meticulous process serves as the conclusive chapter for the majority of our meticulously crafted pieces.
