First, the bisque firing reaches temperatures around 900 °C, preparing the foundation. The second firing, known as glost firing, occurs at even higher temperatures, ranging from 1180 to 1280 °C, creating the glaze that envelops the ware. The Craftsmanship Journey: DRYING
When we open the clay bag, the meticulous craftsmanship journey begins. The drying process commences as the clay gradually loses moisture, resulting in increased stiffness and shrinkage. After the initial forming, our artisans wrap the pieces in soft plastic sheets without holes. This careful packaging slows down, but doesn't halt, the drying process. This precaution ensures that, several days later, the pieces remain workable and intact. If the drying process is too rapid, it can lead to undesirable cracking, hindering the potter's ability to continue creating.
